How to Link Aadhaar with Life Insurance policy?

It is now also mandatory to link your Aadhar card with your life insurance policy. The Aadhar card of the person who is the sponsor or proposer of the policy has to link Aadhar card with the life policy. The beneficiaries do not have to link to the policy and it is only the proposer or the person whose life insured who needs to do the linking. Let us understand how to link Aadhar with life insurance policy with the specific case study of LIC. Remember that by law you are required to link Aadhar with life insurance failing which your policy will not be treated as valid and could even be blocked. Hence, in your own interests and the interests of your family members, it is advisable to link your life insurance with your Aadhar card.

 

To avail the online linking facility you need to furnish your PAN as well to avail this facility. You need to be a registered online user of the organisation and that is quite a simple process which can be managed at the website of the insurance company itself.

 

Steps to link your Aadhar with your LIC policy online

You can start off by visiting the website of LIC i.e. www.licindia.com . Once you log in to the site, select the image “Link Aadhaar and PAN to LIC Policies. The deadline for the same was March 31st 2018. Read the information carefully and click on the “Proceed” button.

Once you come to the next page, fill your details such as name, date of birth, father’s name, gender, PAN, Aadhaar, policy number and e-mail address. Make it a point to read the disclaimer information thoroughly and tick the box to confirm that you have read the same.

You will then be asked to enter the captcha code and click on “Get OTP” An OTP will be sent to your mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Ideally, this should be the same mobile number that is registered with your insurer too. Once you get the OTP on your mobile phone, enter this OTP and click on Submit button.

Once your request is submitted, the data is sent to UIDAI’s CIDR for verification. Once the verification is completed, your LIC policy is linked with Aadhaar and PAN. On completion of registration, a confirmation message will be sent to your registered mobile number and e-mail address

You can also link your Aadhar to LIC policies offline; here is how
If you are not comfortable with the online process, there is also the facility wherein LIC can link policies with Aadhaar through offline process. People who do not have PAN can link their policies with Aadhaar by submitting Form 60. Here is the detailed process flow:

Walk into your nearest LIC registered office with your Aadhaar card, PAN Card / Form 60 and all policy documents in original. You can download the Aadhaar/PAN Mandate Form from LIC’s website. Alternatively, you can also find it at any LIC office. The list of offices of LIC is available on the website of LIC.

The next step is to fill the form mentioning your Aadhaar number, PAN and other details. You must carry self-attested copies of all the documents and also the originals along with your for verification. You may be asked to show original copies of Aadhaar and PAN for verification.

Once the document verification is done and the policy number checked with the master records, the form will be accepted by the executive. After due verification from UIDAI, your Aadhaar and PAN will be linked with your LIC policy.

Once the complete linking is completed, you will get a confirmation message will be sent to you on successful Aadhaar linking with your LIC policy. That completes the loop.

It is essential for you to link your Aadhar with your life insurance policy

In fact, the linking of Aadhaar and insurance is mandatory so that you continue to enjoy the benefits of your insurance policy.

If you do not link all your policies with Aadhaar before the deadline ends, your policy will be deactivated.

This linking is also mandatory under the Prevention of Money-laundering Act (PMLA) to continue availing all such services
