How to Register Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card?

Hence it is very important that you register your mobile phone with your Aadhar centre. Your first registering of mobile with Aadhar card has to be done by visiting the Aadhar facilitation centre. However, subsequent changes can be effected online itself.

 

As you are aware, government has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar with a number of documents and financial instruments making Aadhar card the most preferred proof of identity. Steps to Register Your Mobile Number with Aadhar Card
Here’s what you need to do to register your mobile number in Aadhaar:

Visit the Aadhar Enrolment / Update Centre and fill out the Aadhaar Correction Form. It asks for some basic details.

Don’t forget to mention your current mobile number that has to be updated in Aadhaar. Once you fill up the form you will be required to provide your biometrics for authentication. This includes your fingerprint and iris authentication.

Once that process is completed, the executive will hand over the acknowledgement slip to you. The slip will contain an Update Request Number (URN). Make it a point to keep the slip safely and as a safety measure also note down the URN in a separate place. The URN can be used to track the status of Aadhaar updation.

It is necessary for you to get another Aadhaar card after updating your mobile number in Aadhaar card. Once your mobile number is registered with Aadhaar, you will start receiving Aadhaar OTPs for availing a number of facilities. Your Aadhar number and all other details will remain the same.

Is it really important for me to register my Aadhar and mobile number?

There are a number of distinct benefits that you will get by registering your Aadhar card with your mobile number. Here are a few of them:

 

For availing most of the facilities related to Aadhaar like e-KYC, bank account opening, online broking account opening etc; an OTP is sent to the registered mobile number. This is possible only if your mobile is registered. This OTP should be provided to avail the service as it is an added layer of security. In case your number is not linked with Aadhaar, you will not be able to avail these services.

It is now also mandatory to get your mobile number registered with Aadhar to avail services that are covered by UIDAI authentication. You are also required to provide the OTP sent to your mobile number in order to download your Aadhaar online

There is a small fee for registering your mobile number in Aadhar. The applicant has to pay a fee of ?25/- to avail the service when he visits the Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre for registering or updating his mobile number in Aadhaar. This amount of ?25/- has to be paid every time he goes for updating the mobile number. This is the fee payable for a single round of updation, irrespective of whether you update one item of information or multiple details.

There is no additional documentation required except your Aadhar card. Your signed application form is good enough. One more thing to remember here! Updating your mobile at the Aadhar centre is different from updating your Aadhar with your mobile service provider. Both are distinct activities and both have to be mandatorily done.
