How to get a duplicate copy of your lost Aadhar card?

Quite often, people worry that losing your Aadhar Card is like losing your passport and you will have to go through a long official process to get another Aadhar card. That is hardly the case. There is nothing like an Aadhar card duplicate because there is one master file that is uploaded on the UIDAI website. You can actually go and take a print. Of course, if you are not too tech savvy then you may have a problem doing it online, but any cyber café can help you out on that. Your Aadhar cards are normally sent by post within a period of 90 days. But what happens if you don’t receive your card even after 90 days. In case of Aadhar card not yet received after.

 

Aadhar card can get lost misplaced for various reasons. For example, you may not have been present at home when the Aadhar card was delivered. Alternatively, you may have lost your Aadhar card with your wallet or you may have just kept it someplace and forgotten about it. What do you do in such cases? In case of loss or misplacement of Aadhar card, you can get a duplicate Aadhaar card made with ease. An individual can get a duplicate Aadhaar card from the official website of UIDAI by providing the enrolment number mentioned in the acknowledgement slip provided at the time of enrolling for the Aadhaar card. The duplicate card has the same card number and other details as the original card.

 

How to get a duplicate Aadhar card issued?

If you have your Aadhar Card number or even your acknowledgement number, then you can easily trace you Aadhar card and download it in PDF format. In case a person does not have the acknowledgement slip, he can find the enrolment number/Aadhaar number from the UIDAI website. Aadhaar can be retrieved by visiting the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre as well. You can get a duplicate Aadhaar card copy in case you have lost/misplaced your Aadhaar card or if you don’t know your Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID.

 

How to get the duplicate Aadhar card from the UIDAI website?

To get a duplicate Aadhar from the Aadhar website, you need to visit the UIDAI website and click on the download card section. Here are the steps to follow.

First choose the relevant option based on the data point available with you. Choose either “Aadhaar No (UID)” or “Enrolment No (EID)”

Input basic information like the name, email address and mobile number registered with UID.

Next you need to type in the security code as displayed on the screen and click on the “Get OTP” button. Automatically, an OTP will be sent to the person’s registered mobile number/e-mail address. You can input the OTP received on the mobile number and click on the “Verify OTP” button.

Subsequently, you will receive a message on your mobile number containing your Aadhaar or Enrolment number. After getting the Aadhaar number or enrolment id, the user can visit the website at https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/. You will be asked to select your Aadhaar Number or Enrolment ID. Input your Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID, full name, pin code, security text as shown in the tab and mobile number.

An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Input the OTP received on mobile in the “Enter OTP” tab and click on “Validate and Generate”. Your Aadhaar will be Generated as a PDF file. Now you can download this and print it. Always make it a point to keep a copy in your pen drive or in your cloud storage for easy access at any point of time.

You can also get you Aadhar card offline

It is also possible to get a duplicate copy of Aadhaar card offline by either visiting the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or by calling the toll-free number. Users can call UIDAI’s toll-free number 1947 and request for a duplicate Aadhaar. The steps are quite simple.

 

To use the call centre facility, call the UIDAI’s toll-free number 1800-180-1947 or 1947and follow the IVR options and choose the option to talk to Aadhaar Executive. Now you can place a request with the executive for a duplicate copy of your Aadhaar card. For security reasons, the executive will ask you a few questions to verify your identity. Once your details are verified over phone, the executive will accept your request and initiate the process. The duplicate Aadhaar card will be sent to the mentioned residential address by post.

 

You can also obtain the duplicate Aadhar card by visiting the Aadhar facilitation centre. This becomes necessary when your mobile is not registered with UIDAI. You can simply visit a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and request for a duplicate Aadhaar. You will have to first fill up the Aadhar Correction form. If you know your Aadhaar number or enrolment number, you can request the registrar to issue a duplicate Aadhaar. Alternatively, the executive will verify your biometrics and place a request for a duplicate Aadhaar based on master data.
