SC to examine validity of Rs 33,000 crore income tax claim on Jaypee Infra
The Supreme Court on Monday said it will examine the validity of the commissioner of Income-Tax's assessment raising a claim of ₹33,000 crore on Jaypee Infratech Ltd (JIL), taking note of the "endless litigation" affecting 22,000 homebuyers of the debt-laden realty company.It asked the Central Board of Direct Taxes to examine the department's assessment order.

Jefferies retains 'buy' rating on HDFC Bank, foresees over 20% upsurge
Global brokerage firm Jefferies maintained a 'buy' rating on India's biggest private lender, HDFC Bank, saying that its margin improvement will be key to increase the RoA and re-rating valuations. The brokerage firm assigned a target price of Rs 1,800 per share, signalling an upside of 20 percent from current levels. So far this year, the stock of this private sector lender has declined over 12%.
