Godfrey Phillips shares surge 8% with bonus issue

Godfrey Phillips India stock jumped 8% to Rs 3,694 after trading ex-bonus, as the company adjusted for its recently announced 2:1 bonus issue, tripling the share count and resulting in a proportional drop in share price. The company issued two additional fully paid-up shares for every one share held from capitalizing General Reserves and/or Retained Earnings. Shareholder value remains unchanged.
