Copper prices drop ahead of key US-China trade negotiations

Copper futures fell 1.4% on the London Metal Exchange, retreating from a record high. Base metals weakened due to a rare meeting between US President Trump and Chinese President Xi, awaiting trade talks results and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's interest-rate cut warning. Copper prices dropped to $11,056 a ton, with lead, nickel, and zinc also declining.
