Karnataka's gender budget growth plateaus despite welfare schemes

Karnataka's gender budget is expected to rise to Rs 94,663 crore in FY27, a 4.6 percent increase from FY26, after moderating sharply over the past two years. The share of gender spending in the overall state budget fell from 11.3 percent in FY25 to 9.1 percent in FY27. Spending on women-focused programmes has also slowed, despite the rollout of large direct benefit schemes.
