Indian rupee strengthens marginally against US dollar

The rupee appreciated 8 paise to 88.62 against the US dollar on Thursday due to a weak American currency and lower crude oil prices. The dollar index fell 0.16% to 99.90 and Brent crude rose marginally to $63.63 per barrel. The rupee earlier opened at 88.51 and Sensex rose 321.81 points to 83,780.96 in early trade.
