Indian rupee edges up 9 paise against US dollar

The rupee gained 9 paise to 88.51 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, supported by lower crude oil prices, despite a strong American currency and volatile equity markets. The dollar index was at 99.49 and Brent crude declined 0.34% to $64.67 per barrel. The Sensex declined 46.27 points to 84,626.75.
