Berkshire Hathaway acquires OxyChem for $9.7 billion

Berkshire Hathaway agreed to buy Occidental Petroleum's petrochemical unit, OxyChem, for $9.7 billion, marking the conglomerate's largest deal since 2022. Berkshire already held a 28.2% stake in Occidental. The deal will see Occidental pay $6.5 billion of the proceeds towards debt. The close is expected in the fourth quarter.
