Sanae Takaichi made history, winning Japan's parliamentary vote as the country's first woman prime minister with 237 votes in the first round of the 465-seat Lower House. Her victory comes after the Liberal Democratic Party and Japan Innovation Party formed a coalition government, where she agreed to support JIP policies such as reducing parliamentary seats and pausing food consumption tax.
