UK Exchange: New minimum wage may have severe outcomes
Flipitmoney
UK FM Rachel Reeves is expected to announce a 4% rise in the National Living Wage to £12.70 ($16.56) from April 2026. This would increase the annual salary to £26,416 for a 40-hour week. The move would make the UK have one of the world's highest statutory minimum wages, ahead of peers like France and Germany, but could contribute to higher inflation and sharply increased employment costs.
