India added 16.3 gigawatt of Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) capacity in 2025-26, contributing 36% to annual solar capacity addition. PM Surya Ghar led to over 18.7 lakh rooftop solar installations, surpassing 2025's 8.51 lakh. Total solar energy capacity reached 150 GW by March 2026, with non-fossil sources accounting for 29% of total generation.
