SBI sells 13.19% stake in Yes Bank to Japan's SMBC for Rs 8,889 crore

SBI sold a 13.19% stake in Yes Bank to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation for Rs 8,889 crore. The RBI and Competition Commission approvals, received on August 22 and September 2, respectively, enabled the sale at Rs 21.50 per share. Yes Bank's share price fell 0.7% while SBI's share price rose 3%. Yes Bank reported a 59% year-on-year growth in Q1FY26 standalone net profit at Rs 801 crore.
