FPIs shift from stocks to IPO investments in Indian market

Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) are net sellers in the Indian stock market, selling ₹2,27,500 crore of Indian shares in cash segment in FY25. However, FPIs have increased their collective investment in Indian IPOs by threefold to ₹26,500 crore due to overpriced secondary market, prioritised deals in IPOs and steady demand from domestic institutional investors deepening equity markets.
