Emerging India's laundry to fridges are no longer luxury buys

IDFC First Bank CEO V Vaidyanathan said home appliances are no longer discretionary spends in emerging India, with credit growing smoothly and financing 600,000 items per month. He suggested India follow Singapore's ease of doing business model and support domestic luxury, viewing GST revisions as beneficial and anticipating a material impact on GDP growth in FY27.
