Torrent Power to buy Newzone firms for Rs 211 crore

Torrent Power Ltd acquired Newzone India Pvt Ltd (49% equity) and Newzone Power Projects Pvt Ltd (full ownership) for Rs 211 crore, with the deal expected to close in four months. The acquisition includes 922 acres of land in Madhya Pradesh for a proposed thermal power project. Torrent Power's Q1 net profit fell 24.7% to Rs 731 crore, with revenue and EBITDA declining 12.5% and 20.2% year-on-year.
