HAL shares surge 2% on record $8.75 billion defence deal

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) shares surged 2.2% to Rs 4,827.95 on the BSE. The company signed a Rs 62,370 crore contract for 97 Tejas Mk-1A fighter jets with the Ministry of Defence, including 68 fighter variants, 29 twin-seater aircraft, and associated equipment for the Indian Air Force. Deliveries are set to begin in 2027-28.
