Chambal Fertilisers faces ₹527 crore GST penalty, to appeal in court

Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd received a ₹527 crore penalty order from the Joint Commissioner of CGST & Central Excise, Patna-I, for alleged GST liability on government subsidies and incorrect input tax credit (ITC) from FY18-19 to FY22-23. The company plans to contest the order, stating the subsidy is excluded from taxable supply under the Central GST Act.
