Bank Nifty recovers for fifth session, surpasses 56,000

The Bank Nifty index rose nearly 400 points (0.7%) to reclaim the 56,000-mark, with 12 constituents trading in the green. HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank reported loan growth of 15% and 10% respectively. Kotak Mahindra Bank rose 1.5%, the most among Bank Nifty stocks. HDFC Bank added 0.7% and Bank of Baroda rose 3.07% to a 15-month high.
