The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is closely monitoring airfares and flight capacities ahead of the festive season to prevent excessive fare hikes. Major airlines have responded by adding over 1,700 flights: IndiGo with 730, Air India and Air India Express with 486, and SpiceJet with 546. While airfares remain deregulated, the DGCA has the authority to intervene if necessary.
