Asian markets surge on AI-linked US gains

Asian shares rose at the open after US tech stocks hit new peaks, with the S&P 500 closing 0.6% higher and the Nasdaq 100 advancing 1.2%. US-listed Chinese stocks gained 0.9% and gold traded above $4,000 despite oil retreating. The yen was little changed after reaching its weakest level against the dollar since February.
