TCS lays off nearly 20,000 employees in cost-cutting move

TCS reported a 19,755 drop in headcount in Q2 FY26, bringing its workforce to 5.93 lakh amid restructuring. The company said around 6,000 exits were involuntary, with the rest due to attrition. However, NITES accused TCS of underreporting layoffs, claiming nearly 8,000 more employees were let go than officially stated.
