Spirit cancels Airbus order with AerCap settlement

Spirit Airlines will reject commitments for 52 Airbus planes and options for 10 others, with AerCap taking over the orders. In a dispute settlement, Spirit will sign new leases for 30 Airbus planes, AerCap injects $150 mn into Spirit, and receives a $572 mn unsecured claim. Spirit will also reject 27 leases, forfeit $9.7 mn, and shrink its operations including 1,800 flight attendant furloughs.
