Japan's Nikkei surges on Takaichi PM bet rumors

The Nikkei share average rose 1.27% to 48,277.74, with SoftBank Group surging 8.59% and Tokyo Electron gaining 4%. Hopes of LDP leader Sanae Takaichi becoming prime minister fueled a revival in big spending bets, after the Japan Innovation Party emerged as a possible coalition partner. The yen strengthened against the dollar, but shares of property and railway firms in Osaka gained.
