Stock markets see early signs of Diwali cheer

Stock market investors celebrated with strong gains on Thursday ahead of Diwali. The Sensex jumped 862.23 points to 83,467.66, up 1.04%, and the Nifty rose 261.75 points to 25,585.30, up 1.03%. Private banking stocks led the rally, with HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and others together accounting for nearly 50% of the Sensex's gain.
