European stocks rise on banking and defence sector gains

As investors processed a few company earnings and evaluated sector-specific momentum and macro signals, European equities increased by about 1% on Monday, supported by robust gains from banks and defense firms. As of 0750 GMT, the STOXX 600 index for the entire continent was up 0.9% at 571.05 points. The value of other significant regional indicators increased as well.
