Japan's Nikkei surges past 50,000 mark on stimulus optimism

The Nikkei share average broke past 50,000 for the first time, up 2.17% at 50,367.38 after Sanae Takaichi's ascension to power. The broader Topix rose 1.72%. Expectations of Takaichi's growth-focused policy supported the gains. Chip-testing equipment maker Advantest jumped 4.83% and Uniqlo-owner Fast Retailing rose 2.55%. The Nikkei has soared 25.8% this year.
