Vedanta Q2 profit plummeting 59%, sparking demerger

Billionaire Anil Agarwal's Vedanta Ltd reported a 59% decline in profit due to a one-time write-off in its power business, despite revenue rising 6% to a record ₹39,868 crore in the September quarter. The company has filed a review petition after the Supreme Court ruled against its power unit on a ₹1,407 crore claim. Earnings before interest and tax increased 12% to ₹11,612 crore.
