Indian stocks slump, investors lose Rs 1.34 lakh cr in FY26

The Nifty index ended FY26 down over 5%, while the BSE Sensex fell 7%, due to global uncertainty, domestic headwinds, and market volatility. Key sectors underperforming were IT, internet, and realty, which tumbled 21%, 19%, and 23% respectively. Investor wealth eroded Rs 1,34,414 crore, and the market capitalisation fell from Rs 413.75 lakh crore to 412.41 lakh crore.
