Sensex opened 143 points down at 16678 on the back of global cues made a intraday
low of 16561 during day from there it recovered to close at 16713 down 108 points
(0.64%). Markets despite closing 0.64% down outperformed the global trend where
Asian Markets had closed between 1.5 - 2 % and European markets had opened 2- 3%
negative.
Among sensex major gainers were Hero Motors, Jaiprakash Associate, Bajaj Auto,
Jindal Steel and Larsen Tubro, Whereas major loser were Wipro, ONGC, Infosys,
Reliance and Sterlite Industries.
Among the indices Oil & Gas, Information Technology and Pharma Sector were major
loser and while Consumer Durable, Auto and Realty sector contributed positively to
the sensex.
In Oil & Gas ( Index down 1.77%) sector fall was largely led Cairn India (- 3.3%), BPCL
(2.24%), ONGC (2.67%) and Reliance (2.1%).
In Information technology (Index down 1.44%) sector was led by HCL Tech (-3.3%)
likely reduction in weight age in MSCI index by month end, Infosy (-2.2%), Wipro
(-3.7%).
Whereas in Pharma (Index down 0.67%) sector fall was led by Dr Reddy (-2.3%), Cipla
(-1.8%) it closed at 52 week low at 275.
Consumer Durables bucked the trend (Index up 2.44%) led by TTK Prestige (up 6%),
Titan Industries (up 4.5%) and Vip industries (up 1.9%).
Auto Continued there upward trend (Index up 1.30%) 2 wheelers continued to make
new 52 Week high both Hero Honda (5.2%) and Bajaj Auto (2.7%).

Nifty ended 22 points down, opened lower and took support at 4950 levels and
retraced back to 5020 in closing. With no major OI addition in calls or puts in todays
trade, nifty is likely to take a direction with respect to global markets move in tommorrow
trade. IT and Oil gas stocks corrected today in range of 3 to 4% while some midcaps
from retail and construction sector gained by 6 to 8%.
