In case the Nifty does manage to cross the 23,000 mark on Friday, it would have taken 64 trading sessions for the 1,000 point journey between 22,000 and 23,000. The Nifty closed at a record high on Thursday. 22,600 was the first barrier for the index, which it convincingly crossed, followed the previous record high and then 22,800. The second half was one-way traffic for the bulls.

Nifty IT jumps 1.3% as Nifty 50, Sensex hit record high led by midcap names
Nifty IT Index rebounded 1.3% on Thursday and was among top sectoral index performers. The stocks as  Coforge, Persistent, TCS, Mphasis, LTIMindtree, Infosys share prices gained up to 4%.  The rebound in the IT index comes after having fallen up to 4.7% year-to-date and around 2.5% in Fiscal year, which provides some relief.  The Nifty IT index also had underperformed Nifty-50 Index.

Nifty hits record high, Sensex jumps 800 points
Sensex jumped over 800 points to reclaim Mt 75K while Nifty also rallied 1% to scale fresh all-time record high above the 22,800-level. Nifty Bank outperformed and jumped 1.6% while PSU rail and defence stocks rose in anticipation of increased capex push. GRSE, Cochin Shipyard and Mazagon Dock rallied up to 20%. PSU rail stocks like RVNL and IRFC were trading 7-8% higher.
