WTO forecasts 1.9% global trade growth in 2026

The World Trade Organization projects 1.9% global merchandise trade growth in 2026, down from 4.6% in 2025, due to waning effects of AI-related products and tariff avoidance. Merchandise trade volume is expected to grow 2.6% in 2027. A high energy price scenario could slow trade growth to 1.4% with 4.1% services growth. Global GDP growth is projected at 2.8% in 2026.
