Indian rupee jumps 12 paise to 89.51 vs US dollar

The rupee appreciated 12 paise to 89.51 against the US dollar in early trade on December 24, supported by the RBI's liquidity announcement and American currency weakness. It touched 89.65 against the dollar before registering a gain of 12 paise over the previous close, amid strong GDP growth of 4.3% and higher Asian currencies.
