Rupee rises to 89.92 against US dollar in early trade

The rupee gained 6 paise to 89.92 against the US dollar on Friday amid thin liquidity and demand-supply imbalances. It opened at 89.95. The RBI is defending the 90 level, keeping the currency in a tight 89.80–90 range, said Anil Kumar Bhansali. Meanwhile, gross GST collections rose 6.1% to ₹1.74 lakh crore in December 2025.
