EPFO to issue refunds for inoperative accounts

The government plans to refund unclaimed money from inactive EPF accounts by automatically settling small balances. Over 7.11 lakh inoperative accounts with up to ₹1,000 — totalling about ₹30.52 crore — will be auto-credited to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts under a pilot initiative to return funds without paperwork to rightful members or heirs.
