Pharma stocks jump on Biopharma Shakti fund announcement

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled "Biopharma Shakti" initiative with a Rs 10,000 crore outlay over 5 years. The programme aims to strengthen domestic biologics and biosimilars manufacturing, reducing import dependence and increasing competitiveness. Biocon rose 2.5% to Rs 375.90, with Piramal Pharma, Sun Pharma, and Torrent Pharma also gaining strongly.
