BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 recovered from the morning losses but were still trading weak at mid-day on May 8, with IT and financial services under pressure. Worries about lower voter turnout and the possibility of a weaker NDA win kept the indices cautious. The BSE Smallcap and Midcap indices which were underperforming the benchmarks in early trade, reversed their losses and rose 0.7 percent each.

Nifty 50 tumbles over 600 points in 4 sessions on heightened volatility
Recent volatility has gripped Indian stocks, fueled by a multitude of factors. Against this backdrop, the Nifty 50 index has witnessed a notable decline of nearly 360 points over the past three trading sessions. From its peak of 22,794 points reached on May 3rd, the index has plummeted by nearly 500 points. Taking today's low into account, the Nifty 50 has dropped 609 points.

📢 At 9:16 AM, the Sensex tanked 277.43 points or 0.38% at 73,234.42, and the Nifty plunged 87.50 points or 0.39% at 22,215.00.
📊 Voltas (⬇️7.57%), Dr. Reddy's Labs (⬇️4.05%) and Pidilite Industries (⬇️2.96%) appeared as the top losers on the Nifty 50 at the Open.
