Here’s a simple guide to check your EPF claim status, using multiple methods (SMS, call, UAN portal) along with prerequisites, what the status messages mean, and what to check.

Prerequisites: What you should have ready
Before you check your claim status, ensure the following are in place:
- Your Universal Account Number (UAN) is activated and you know the password.
- Your mobile number is registered and linked with your UAN.
- Your KYC details (such as Aadhaar, PAN, bank account) are updated/verified in the EPFO system. Without these, claims may get delayed or rejected.
- You should have your PF account number or UAN handy, some methods ask for it.
Methods to Check EPF Claim Status
You can track your EPF claim status via online and offline methods.
1. Online via UAN Member Portal
- Log in at the UAN portal using your UAN and password.
- Navigate to ‘Online Services’ → ‘Track Claim Status’ section.
- The current status of your claim (withdrawal or transfer) will appear: e.g., claim submitted date, claim type, status remarks.
2. SMS Method

From your registered mobile number (linked with UAN), send an SMS to 7738299899.

- Example: EPFOHO 123456789012 ENG (for English)
- Language codes: ENG, HIN, PAN, GUJ, MAR, KAN, TEL, TAM, MAL, BEN.

3. Missed Call / Toll Free Call
- Give a missed call from your registered mobile number to 9966044425. You’ll receive an SMS with claim status or account details.
- Alternatively, call the EPFO toll-free number: 1800 118 005 (or 14470) and ask for the status.
4. Using the UMANG App
- Download the UMANG app on your smartphone.
- Login using your UAN linked mobile and select “Employee Centric Services → Track Claim”.
- The status of all claims raised using your UAN will appear.
What the Status Messages Mean
When you check your claim status, you may see terms like:
- “Under Process” / “Payment under process”: The claim has been submitted and is being processed by EPFO.
- “Settled”: The claim has been verified and funds have been transferred to your bank account.
- “Rejected”: The claim was not accepted reasons may include incorrect details, missing KYC, mismatch in signatures, non-seeding of Aadhaar, etc.
What to Do If Claim Is Delayed or Rejected
- Check that your KYC (Aadhaar, PAN, bank account) is updated in the UAN portal. Delays often happen due to incomplete KYC.
- Ensure the exit date / employment details (for full settlement) are correctly entered and your employer has approved the claim online.
- If status shows “Rejected”, you will see remarks, you may need to rectify the error and submit the claim again.
- If you have changed jobs, ensure your PF account is transferred (if applicable) rather than withdrawing it prematurely, transfer helps faster settlement.
- If still unresolved, contact EPFO help desk or your regional PF office with your UAN and claim number.
