Login to Eway Bill Portal - Services, Login, Registration
Introduction
When goods are transported across India, businesses and transporters often need to generate an electronic waybill under the GST law. The official portal for this process is the e-Way Bill System (available via ewaybillgst.gov.in). Once registered, users can generate, update, or cancel e-Way Bills, track vehicle change, and manage their consignment movement legally. Whether you’re a GST-registered supplier or an unregistered transporter, you’ll need to enrol and log in correctly. The portal also supports features like bulk bill upload, validity extension, and comprehensive dashboards for reports.
Services Available on the e-Way Bill Portal
Once logged in, the e-Way Bill portal offers several useful services:
- Generate New e-Way Bill: Allows creation of an e-Way Bill for the movement of goods.
- Bulk e-Way Bill Generation: Upload JSON/Excel files to generate multiple bills in one go.
- Update e-Way Bill – Part B / Vehicle Details: After generation, you can update vehicle number or transporter details using the “Update Vehicle No” or “Update Transporter” option.
- Cancel e-Way Bill: If goods are not transported or details are incorrect, cancellation is possible within the specified time limits.
- Print / Download e-Way Bill: The bill can be printed or downloaded to be carried physically.
- View Reports & Alerts: Dashboard shows metrics like the number of bills generated, cancelled, and system alerts.
- Citizen Mode / Minimal Generation: Some users may generate bills without full credentials under “Citizen” mode.

- An OTP is sent to your registered mobile. Enter it to verify.

- Submit the form. Once credentials are issued, proceed to log in.
For Unregistered Transporters (without GSTIN)
- Navigate to the portal and select Registration → Enrolment for Transporters
- Fill in business details: Name, PAN card, State, Address, Mobile & Email.
- Verify your mobile via OTP, then set User ID & Password.
- On successful registration, you receive a Transporter ID (also called TRANS ID). Use this when generating e-Way Bills in lieu of a GSTIN.

- Enter your User ID, Password, and Captcha code.
- On first login, you may get an OTP or two-factor authentication.
- On successful login, you’ll see a dashboard showing your GSTIN/Transporter ID, dashboard metrics, and menu options like “Generate New”, “Update Vehicle No”, and “Cancel e-Way Bill”.
- If you forget your credentials, use the “Forgot Credentials” link on the login page to reset your password.
Key Things to Note
- The requirement under Rule 138 of the CGST Rules is triggered when the goods of consignment value exceed ₹50,000; movement then mandates the generation of an e-Way Bill
- Even for unregistered transporters, the system requires enrolment and the issue of a transporter ID so that bills can be generated.
- Bills generated on the portal can be done via various modes: Web portal, Bulk upload, SMS, Mobile App, and API.
- If any detail (like vehicle number) changes during transit, you must update it within the portal via “Update Vehicle No”.
Cancellation must be done within the allowed timeframe (typically within 24 hours of generation) if goods are not moved as per the bill.
