How to Link Aadhaar with EPF/UAN Account - Check Methods
Linking your Aadhaar with your EPF/UAN keeps your PF details correct, lets you use online services, and makes claims faster. It also helps reduce mistakes in your name, date of birth, and bank KYC. Below are all working methods with clear steps.
Before You Start (Quick Checklist)
-
You know your UAN and password for the Member e-Sewa portal.
-
Your mobile number is linked with Aadhaar (for OTP).
-
Your name, date of birth, and gender in EPFO should match Aadhaar.
-
Keep your Aadhaar number and bank details ready.
Method 1: Link on the EPFO Member e-Sewa Portal (Recommended)
Steps
-
Go to the EPFO Member e-Sewawebsite and log in with UAN and password.
-
Click Manage → KYC.
-
Under Add KYC, select Aadhaar.
-
Enter your Aadhaar number and name as per Aadhaar. Click Save.
-
The status shows “KYC Pending for Approval.”
-
Your employer approves it using their login.
-
After UIDAI verification, you will see “Verified by UIDAI.”
Tip: If the status does not change, remind your HR team to approve it.
Method 2: Link Using the UMANG Mobile App
Steps
-
Install and open UMANG. Sign in with your mobile number.
-
Go to All Services → EPFO→ e-KYC / Aadhaar Seeding.
-
Enter your UAN and verify with OTP sent to your registered number.
-
Enter your Aadhaar number and confirm with OTP sent by UIDAI.
-
Check the status later in the app or on the Member e-Sewa portal.
Note: If Aadhaar seeding is not visible in the app for some time, use Method 1.
Method 3: Ask Your Employer to Seed Aadhaar (Employer Portal)
If your name, DOB, and gender in EPFO match Aadhaar, your employer can seed your Aadhaar from the Employer Portal.
Steps
-
Share your Aadhaar number and spelling as per Aadhaar with HR.
-
Employer adds Aadhaar under KYC and approves it (DSC/e-sign).
-
After UIDAI verification, your KYC shows “Verified by UIDAI.”
Method 4: Visit the EPFO Office (When Employer Is Unavailable or For Corrections)
Use this when:
-
The company is closed or employer is not available.
-
A wrong Aadhaar was seeded earlier.
-
Your name/DOB/gender needs correction and employer cannot process it online.
Steps
-
Fill a Joint Declaration (JD) form (Annexure) with correct details.
-
Get it signed/attested by the allowed authority (as asked by EPFO).
-
Submit it at the EPFO regional office at the PRO counter.
-
Keep the acknowledgement and check status after a few days in Manage → KYC.
How to Check If Aadhaar Is Linked
Option A: Member e-Sewa
-
Log in → Manage → KYC → Check status near Aadhaar.

Look for “Digitally Approved by Employer” and “Verified by UIDAI.”
Option B: UAN Card View
